Nancy Connor - Store Owner and Teacher

At different times in her life (many of them overlapping), Nancy Connor has been a waitress, statistician, computer systems analyst, teacher, computer programmer, documentation specialist, entrepreneur, company executive, nonprofit foundation executive, healer, and crafter.  In this particular phase of her life, she is experimenting with being a retail store owner, teacher and artist.

She learned to knit from her grandmother when she was very young, learned how to macramé from books, learned various types of needlework from kits and home economics classes, and generally loves to work with her hands.  Her very first exposure to making art formally was in ceramics, via a class that she took in college, and later continued as a hobby in an open ceramics studio, called Mudville, in Massachusetts.

Much later, she started up again with rubber stamping, by taking classes at various stores, watching demonstrations at conventions, and participating in make it/take it sessions. She was also getting tips, techniques, and tricks from her sister, who ran a rubber stamp store in Westminster, MD. In the beginning, she made cards for friends and relatives for birthdays and Christmas, and as she picked up more techniques, she started to teach.

The students in her classes gave her some great feedback about her skills as a teacher, so she expanded the classes she was teaching further into new territory, past what she had previously learned in taking classes herself.  Along the way, she branched out into several related media, including getting back into clay via polymer and precious metal clays. She continues to use these additional media to enhance her creativity and expand her craft horizons.
